To Whom It May Concern:

Ed Chang taught mathematics at Castro Valley High School during the second semester of the 1980-81 school year. He took over from another teacher and on very short notice did a credible job of teaching a Calculus class, a Computer Math class, two Trigonometry classes and an Algebra class. He had a good grasp of the material and a good rapport with his students. Due to declining enrollment there is a surplus of tenured teachers at our school for the coming school year and so we are not able to rehire Ed. We will truly miss him.

Ed has a willingness to assume responsibility and is not afraid to face new jobs and situations. He is also very personable. Not only did he get along well with his students but also with the faculty. He was quick to fit in with an "older" staff and was accepted by them.

As department chairperson I would very definitely rehire Ed Chang given the opportunity. I recommend him highly for your consideration.

Sincerely yours,

David Cooke
