To whom it may concern:
I supervised Edward Chang's student teaching at Rindge High and Latin in Cambridge during the spring of 1980. I also taught a course on methods and materials of high school teaching in which he participated.
Ed did a good job as a student teacher. He observed his fellow teachers thoughtfully and in doing so developed his own philosophy of math teaching. He gave plenty of individual attention and tried to make sure that all students understood the material. He learned to pace his lessons so that they kept the students' attention. He was confident about his teaching but still receptive to the suggestions of others. He got along very well with his cooperating teacher. The students seemed to like and respect him.
Ed is bright, conscientious, and likeable. I think he will make a good teacher if he decides that this is the career he wants to pursue.
