Dear Sir or Madam,

I have known and worked closely with Ed Chang since 1994. During that time, I have developed the highest esteem for him, both personally and professionally, and it is my pleasure to write this letter on his behalf.

I first met Ed while doing research for my book, Get a Financial Life: Personal Finance in Your Twenties and Thirties - which, I am happy to report, is now a national bestseller (as of this writing, it is number two on the New York Times paperback business bestseller list). I had come across an excellent article he had written on the subject of deciding whether to rent or buy a home; at the time, I was in the process of writing a section of the book on that issue, and his expertise proved invaluable to me in formulating my own opinions and advice. Ed then decided to design special computer software to help consumers make sense of the rent/buy dilemma; I found this software so impressive that I have included Ed's name and address in the book, so that interested readers can order the program from him directly.

Throughout the book-writing process, Ed proved himself an indispensable resource, fact-checking the math in the book and catching computational errors that several other experts had missed. He has continued to prove his worth long after the book's publication; when I was scheduled to appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show a few weeks ago, for example, I once again relied on Ed to double-check the veracity of the facts and figures I would be quoting. Even though he was quite busy with his own work, Ed put in long hours to make sure that all the calculations were correct.

I cannot speak highly enough of Ed's skills and capacities. In addition to being a brilliant analyst, he is a wonderful teacher - attentive, patient, and thoughtful. He possesses a broad and comprehensive command of mathematical and financial matters, and complements that expertise with a rare ability to elucidate even the most complex problems.

Ed Chang is an extraordinary thinker, instructor, and friend. He has my gratitude and my respect, and I recommend his services wholeheartedly.

Sincerely,

Beth Kobliner
